National Competition Policy review into NSW Liquor Laws
This Report details the process and outcome of the National
Competition Policy review of the NSW liquor and club management laws,
and recommends that all licensed restaurants be able to automatically
operate a reception area (cocktail bar)
There was general agreement in submissions made to the review and opinions expressed throughout the Summit that the liquor laws and the licensing process are in urgent need of simplification, so that unnecessary complexity is eliminated and the substantial costs associated with applications and compliance are reduced.
The review has made 35 recommendations in total, and those are divided into two categories –
-
recommendations dealing with current restrictions on competition, and
-
proposed licensing reform options for NSW.
