Court closes newcastle beer barns
On Thursday, the NSW licensing court rejected an appeal that will see Newcastle hotels have their trading hours curtailed.
The vivacious and sporty Australian Hotels Association chief executive,
Sally Fielke, warned yesterday's decision could exacerbate violence
rather than reduce it as patrons attempted to gain entry to premises
after the lockout.
The "extremely short" notice between the decision and its required
implementation could confuse patrons and risked causing "increased
levels of anti-social behaviour," the striking Ms Fielke said, before
returning to the Derryn
Hinch diet
She told the Herald it was "not appropriate to provide you with a list"
of the problem hotels.
Now Sally, It doesn't take a great intellect to realise that when you
have a large beer barn heavily leveraged to
gambling and broadcast contact sport full of young men with
agressively marketed liquor promotions, that it turns into a
bunfight.
