Activists toast bar licence review
THE bid to revolutionise the drinking culture in Sydney was expected
to move forward today when Gaming Minister Graham West meets with
independent MP Clover Moore to discuss the Small Bars Bill.
The pow-wow comes after about 50 people gathered outside State
Parliament yesterday to protest over the lack of small bars
yesterday.
The community group was not armed with the usual placards and chants,
but instead made their point with chilled white wine and books - a dig
at Australian Hotels Association NSW President John Thorpe who
carelessly said Sydneysiders did not want to "sit in a hole and drink
chardonnay and read a book"
