Activists toast bar licence review

THE bid to revolutionise the drinking culture in Sydney was expected to move forward today when Gaming Minister Graham West meets with independent MP Clover Moore to discuss the Small Bars Bill.

The pow-wow comes after about 50 people gathered outside State Parliament yesterday to protest over the lack of small bars yesterday.

The community group was not armed with the usual placards and chants, but instead made their point with chilled white wine and books - a dig at Australian Hotels Association NSW President John Thorpe who carelessly said Sydneysiders did not want to "sit in a hole and drink chardonnay and read a book"
