barry o'farrell, You have the opportunity for NSW to catch up to the rest of the world in front of you – take it.
If liquor reform is important in the city, it is crucial in rural
NSW.
We run a small licensed restaurant in Ulladulla on the south
coast. Our clients constantly request the option of having a
quiet afternoon drink without necessarily having to order food.
There is no option in our town for these clients.
No disrespect to other licensed premises but ……
In Ulladulla there is only one pub and that's the place for loud music,
and "boozing-style" behaviour enjoyed by youth but not the more mature
local or tourist. The other option for just a drink is one of the
innumerable clubs in the area – the main haunt of those who like to
gamble while drinking – but certainly not everyone's idea of a
pleasant spot for a quiet drink.
The current drink and dine licence option is prohibitively expensive
for small seasonal operations such as ours.
Coastal towns depend on tourism – we must be able to provide the
services tourists expect – or they will spend their dollars out of
state.
Not good for NSW Tourism; not good for the NSW economy.
You have the opportunity for NSW to catch up to the rest of the world in front of you – take it.
