Donald Page MP makes a decision

Ballina National Party local member Donald Page MP looks like having to make a decision on whether to act in his electorate this week after the closure of the local Coorabell Community  Hall to local artists.

The local Byron News reports:

"A series of noise complaints believed to be from the one source - has forced the community-based Coorabell Hall Association to cancel all future gigs at the hall.
With the hall one of the last in the region accepting bookings for bands, the decision will come as a huge blow to local musicians".

Not just a Member of the NSW Legislative Assembly and the Member for Ballina, Donald Page MP is also the Shadow Minister for Small Business & Regulatory Reform as well as the Shadow Minister for Tourism.

Donald, as the Shadow Minister for Small Business in Ballina, if you don't think theres any place for musicians in the electorate, then they won't need anywhere to work.

As Shadow Minister for Regulatory Reform you would of course be aware of the important changes under schedule 5.1[1] and [2] in the draft EP & A Amendment Bill 2008 as well as section 81 (3) (a) of the Liquor Act 2007 for live performance in NSW.

As Shadow Minister for Tourism, you might consider if the local music festivals in your electorate are good for the economy.

Mr Page, if the entertainment in the Hall is loud, then of course it must be brought under control, but don't let  the council stop people getting together and making music in this Hall please. Thank You.

Send Donald Page MP an email, I did.
