Iemma Government Delivers!
In what will be seen as an appropriate, courageous, and responsible
decision for the people of NSW, today NSW OLGR Minister Graham West
sponsored a progressive program for liquor reform successfully through
the development stage towards implementation.
With the Iemma cabinet passing comprehensive restructuring to licence
fees, application process, and new categories, residents, small
business, tourism, and cultural industries will be the big winners from
the changes to the Liquor Act NSW had to have.
Harm minimisation lobbyists will find it hard to gain traction with
the progressive direction of a bill expected before parliament
shortly - Bogan licensing gets Bogan behaviour, and there is no more
responsible service of alcohol than table service in a
restaurant.
Whilst successive NSW governments from Greiner, Fahey, and Carr will be
noted for their inability to implement the reforms that were happening
nationally in liquor licensing, the people of NSW will be
genuinely impressed with Morris Iemma and his team for preparing a Bill
for parliament that is more progressive than most expected.
