NSW Coalition hold strategy meeting on POPE reform

Set the scene, its the morning of Tuesday, June 3, and around the polished wooden table in the Opposition Leaders office are gathered Opposition Planning Spokesman, Brad Hazzard, The Member for Castle Hill, Michael Richardson, as well as the Member for Cronulla, Malcolm Kerr - to receive instructions from the brilliant policy strategist, and pilot of the good ship Coalition, Barry O'Farrell:

Barry O'Farrell: Right men, tonight the Government table the long overdue reforms to NSW Place of Public Entertainment (PoPE) regulations in the House, and i want you to make the very best of the opportunity to show our vision for the people of NSW!.

I've considered three options:

  1. Hammer the ALP for these long overdue reforms after Bob Carrs legacy that introduced pokies to NSW pubs, and turned a generation of musicians out onto the scrapheap.
  2.  Listen carefully and acknowledge genuine good work.
  3. Behave like clowns, and turn the speech into a bunfight!.

Men, I've decided to go with the third option:

Brad, you take the lead, interrupt a few times - be a bit rude, and as our Planning guru, put on the record that PoPE reform has nothing to do with the Bill being discussed.

Michael, i want you get up just to tell your constituents that you haven't even read the Bill, and Malcolm, can you ensure that the Hansard records for posterity that the Coalitions official position is that PoPE reform "will not benefit the people of NSW".

That should do the trick!

Read the Hansard from the debate, and see just how well they fulfilled their brief
