NSW liquor regulations confound City of Sydney licensees

Introduced in December 2007, the City of Sydney Council implemented a Development Control Plan for late night trading premises in the city that defines high impact premises as Category A , and low impact premises as Category B, however draft Community Impact Statements( CIS) for new licenses and the variation of trading conditions under proposed liquor regulations define high impact premises as Category B , and low impact premises as Category A. (huh?)

Nice.

Whist we can appreciate that the new CIS process carries on from the previous Social Impact Assessment categories, (as well as the fact of course that liquor laws apply statewide, and the DCP is only for the City of Sydney LGA), what better example can there be of the strange and wonderful beast that is the three tiers of Government!

Now less than a week to go for submissions on the draft Liquor Regulation .

The final date for receipt of the submissions is 5pm Thursday 24 April 2008.
