Is the Member for Castle Hill deliberately illiterate?
Although the Member for Castle Hill,
Mr Michael John RICHARDSON, has been a Member of Parliament
since 1994, It seems he considers it appropriate to comment in
the House on legislation he neglects to even read, as evidenced by his
response to the speech from the Member for Strathfield, Virginia
Judge, in the Parliament last Tuesday night on planning reform
for Places of Public Entertainment:
Mr Michael Richardson, Member for Castle Hill
" Do you like the 130 pages of the bill?... we are debating a planning bill, not a bill about the live music industry".
"... If I had read the bill I would find the reference."
For anyone in the cultural sector reading the Hansard, which goes
down hill from here, it really doesn’t read well, considering the
importance of these reforms.
Whilst the changes to PoPE regulations in the Bill are even supported
by the Greens and Clover Moore, the Coalition left a bunfight on the
public record, which will remain there for posterity.
Policy anyone?
