Every licensed venue in NSW that wants any artistic activity like poetry, theatre, music or public speaking, requires a very expensive and difficult PoPE approval processed through council.
Curiously, if you want live sport or gambling in your bar, no PoPE
consent is required. How very very interesting, and convenient for
some
PoPE regulation should only apply to the large theatres and public
halls for which it was designed, not the local bar, pub, restaurant or
cafe.
