NSW Coalition undecided on liquor reform
Conflicting signals are being given by the NSW coalition, with
members suspending Parliamentary business at 10am last Thursday to
allow Clover Moore to table her new Liquor Bill, and yet Shadow Gaming
and Racing Minister and Nationals Member for the Upper Hunter,
George Souris MLA, is on the record as saying Clover Moore needs to
accept Sydney was a world away from Europe.
"The concept of trying to introduce some sort of European liquor
accord involving coffee shops and food outlets is unworkable. NSW is
not Paris," Mr Souris said.
With the Hunter region home to boutique wineries and a developing
tourism industry, Souris can support reform and confirm the prosperity
of his electorate as his main priority, or is it mischievous to raise
the spectre of political donations, the hosting of fundraisers,
and the expectation of those who pay the piper to call the tune.
If you live in or know someone in the Hunter region, or just care about growing the prosperity of NSW Tourism, Hospitality, Wineries and Cultural Industries, send Shadow Gaming and Racing Minister Souris a drink with the link above, and encourage the NSW coalition to support reform and play a new tune.
